"They picked the baby up and took it into their care.

"They didn't know what was going on or where the baby had come from."

Before the incident took place, the car-thief was watching as a man and women briefly left their vehicle unattended to go back inside their home, leaving the engine running.

At the time, their two children were in the car and their 9 year-old, managed to jump from the car before the man sped off.

However the car-jacker didn't realise there was an infant strapped into the back seat.

Shortly afterwards the child was left on a footpath and the thief continued driving.
