A man in his 70s was brought to hospital after being discovered with injuries in Dungarvan in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The man was found on O'Connell Street at around 3 am, and Dungarvan Gardai were called to the scene.
He was brought to Cork University Hospital (CUH) for treatment of his injuries.
Gardai say they are unaware at present whether or not the injuries were acquired as a result of an assault, however, it is understood that there is no criminal activity involved in this incident.
