Man's body discovered in Co Wexford this morning

Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a man's body in his 50s in Blackwater, Co Wexford at around 8:30am this morning.

A post-mortem will take place at a later date and the results will determine the course of their investigation.

Gardaí say they are treating it as a tragic incident.

According to the New Ross Standard, the body was found close to the scene of a log cabin fire, which is believed to have been the deceased man’s residence.

Earlier that morning, fire services attended the scene at around 8.40 a.m and when the blaze was put out there was no one inside the property, which led to a local search where the body was found a short distance away from the scene.

A Garda spokesperson has told Beat News:

"Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances following the discovery of a body of a man in his 50s, in Blackwater, Co. Wexford, at approximately 8:30am this morning. A post-mortem will take place at a later date, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation. This is being treated as a tragic incident at this time.*
