Met Eireann issues National Status Orange Warning

Met Eireann has issued two more weather warnings for South East counties tonight.

A Status Orange National Fog Alert in place from now until 12 noon on Thursday. The Irish Meteorological Service warns of "dense fog in many areas overnight and possibly lingering on Thursday."

Met Eireann issues a Status Orange weather warning when weather conditions have the capacity to impact significantly on people in the affected areas. The issue of an Orange level weather warning implies that all recipients in the affected areas should prepare themselves in an appropriate way for the anticipated conditions.

Meanwhile, a Status Yellow Low Temperature Alert is also in place for Munster, Connacht and Leinster. Lowest temperatures of -5 degrees are expected, with South East counties worst affected.

Met Eireann says "cold and frosty under clear skies, with the most severe frosts across Munster and south Leinster. Lowest values tonight minus 2 to minus 5 degrees over the southern half of the country. Fog will become more widespread overnight in the almost calm conditions."
