Michael D'Arcy's resignation as a Senator causes a stir among party leaders

The leader of the Green Party says he has spoken to the Tanaiste about Michael D'Arcy's controversial move from the Seanad to the private sector.

The former minister of state for finance and Wexford TD has taken up a role with the financial services lobby group, the Irish Association of Investment Managers.

Politicians are not permitted to lobby for a year after leaving politics.

Minister Eamon Ryan says the move is a real concern:

"It doesn't matter which party, I think there's a real issue, particularly in the financial sector."

"We do have to maintain a distance and a time-lag and a gap, I would have concerns in that regard."
