A motorist has been arrested in Kilkenny overnight, after trying to avoid a Garda checkpoint.
The local roads policing unit were conducting a mandatory intoxicant testing checkpoint when they came across the driver who decided not to stop.
A short time later, the motorist was stopped on the Bennettsbridge Road in the city and failed a breath test.
He was arrested and his car was seized for having no insurance.

The man now faces court for offences including drink driving, no insurance and numerous dangerous driving charges, according to local Gardaí.
