New look for Waterford's North Quays redevelopment revealed

New renders of Waterford City's proposed North Quays redevelopment have been revealed.

The images coincide with the release of an independent economic report, entitled Transforming Waterford.

Waterford Councillor, John Cummins (Fine Gael), says the findings of the report places Waterford in a great position to secure vital government funding.

The local authority commissioned the report, from the consultancy firm Indecon, in a bid to secure over 60 million euro in capital funding which is required to progress the project.

Saudi firm, Al Hokair, have also have sought to invest 300 million euro into the North Quays redevelopment.

It's thought that the project could lead to over 3,000 jobs in construction, retail, tourism and knowledge based enterprise, as well as having a major impact on tourism and foreign investment.

Fine Gael Councillor John Cummins was involved with securing the Strategic Development Zone designation for the North Quays while serving as mayor.

He says the report's findings should help secure the necessary government funding.
