New Technological University set for the South East

Sinn Fein TD David Cullinane has proposed that a new Technological University should be implemented in the South East.

The proposed university is to be a merger of Institute of Technology Carlow and Waterford Institute of Technology.

Mr. Cullinane released a document yesterday which outlined plans for the Technological University.

Mr. Cullinane proposes that the new institution must be a multi-campus model and should primarily be located in Waterford as it the arguably the capital destination of the South East.

Mr. Cullinane spoke to Beat News and said that the Technological University would be an opportunity to compete with other universities: "We are the only region that does not have a university". Mr. Cullinane also told Beat News about his fears that the proposed plans may be placed on the back burner in terms of funding.
