Passengers could miss flights due to 'significant queues' at the terminal

The operator of Dublin Airport's warning some passengers could miss their flights today due to 'significant queues' at the terminal.

Huge lines have formed at check-in, bag drop and security, with 50,000 expected to depart today.

Passengers stuck in long queues, who fear they might miss their flight, are being advised to bring it to the attention of staff.

There were also severe delays in getting through security checks yesterday, as thousands of people passed through the airport. Queues extended from the security check area to outside Terminal 1 while many also reported delays in recovering their luggage after an incoming flight.

It follows long delays at security in recent weeks and months due to staffing issues at the airport.

Labour Party transport spokesperson, Duncan Smith, says the situation is out of control. He has had reports this morning from one friend who said they were on a plane that was able to wait for passengers while others said they had missed their flight.

He says: "We didn't think it could get any worse than it has been over the last couple of weeks but today seems to have broken new ground with many many people missing flights and absolute chaos through out the terminal buildings"

Editor of Air and Travel magazine, Eoghan Corry has warned long queues at Dublin Airport will most likely continue into next month.
