Pet owners in the South East warned to be mindful of pets in warm weather

The ISPCA has appealed to pet owners in the South East to be mindful of high temperatures when it comes to the well-being of their pets.

Today's weather is expected to reach its peak with temperatures soaring to 28 degrees in some parts of the region.

Leaving pets in cars can be extremely dangerous as temperatures can rise extremely quickly within 15 minutes, which is more than enough time for a dog to get heat stroke.

Alice Leacy, ISPCA animal welfare inspector for Waterford and Tipperary is advising people in the South East to contact them via the ISPCA's anonymous helpline if they have any concerns regarding an animal's safety on 1890 515 515.
