Talk about a holiday nightmare...

Eight Ryanair passengers were left confused and disappointed, when they discovered their seats on a Ryanair flight they had boarded, did not exist.

In a bizarre plane scheduling mix-up, customers assigned to rows 34 and 35 boarded a flight from London Stansted to Dublin Airport only to discover the seats terminated at row 33.

The frustrated passengers were left stranded at the rear of the plane for a period of time while Ryanair staff attempted to resolve the issue.

Speaking to The Metro, Ryanair passenger Gerry Harrington said: "when we got on the plane, we were looking for our row which wasn't there."

Recognising the mistake, the Ryanair crew moved to offer the discommoded passengers alternative overnight accommodation and €290 (£250) in compensation.

All those affected were also offered an alternative flight the following morning.

The budget airline has since apologised for any inconvenience caused, stating that an "aircraft change" resulted in a different plane than originally planned taking off from the airport.
