Search for missing woman stood down following discovery of body

The search for a missing Waterford woman has been stood down following the discovery of a body this afternoon.

34 year old Kathleen Gallagher Lavery was reported missing by her family on Sunday Morning last.

She was last seen in the Newtown area of Waterford city just after midnight on the 18th December.

According to Waterford News and Star, her family have thanked An Garda Síochana, her friends and members of the public, who shared her photo over the last few days.

Gardaí had been appealing to the public in help locating Kathleen and they had been examining CCTV footage in an attempt to establish her movements.

It's understood Kathleen was the mother of four young children.

Waterford Marine Search and Rescue shared this statement this evening: "The search for missing person Kathleen Gallagher Lavery has ended.

"This Afternoon volunteers from Waterford Marine Search and Rescue, recovered the body of missing person Kathleen Gallagher Lavery.
