Solas Cancer Support Centre's Run and Walk for Life raises over €150,000

Solas Cancer Support Centre's Run and Walk for Life has raised €152,000 for the charity.

The 2019 incarnation of the event took place on Sunday, October 13th and saw over 2,300 runners and walkers from all walks of life take to a 10km route in and around Waterford city.

The announcement was made on this morning's Beat Breakfast by Run for Life's Voluntary Organising Committee Chair, Tracy McDaid.

"The Run and Walk for Life would not be possible without the support of our main sponsors and all of our supporters," noted Tracy. We would like to thank our media sponsor Beat and our event sponsor Datapac; we are so fortunate to have their continued assistance in making the Run and Walk for Life such a success. We also recognise the team of over 200 hundred amazing volunteers who make it all possible."

Dee Jacques, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Solas Cancer Support Centre added to Tracy's comments, speaking of her appreciation to all those involved: "To raise €152,000 at the 2019 Run and Walk for Life is just astonishing."

She continued, "We are so grateful to all the runners, walkers and fundraisers. The funds generated will be used to help fund our services, both in Waterford and in our west Waterford service in Dungarvan. Delivering these services cost €600,00 annually and these funds are raised each year because of the generosity of our community."
