Some WIT Students are resorting to sleeping in their cars to continue their education.

That's according to the Welfare Officer of the Students Union, who has described the housing situation in Waterford as 'crazy'.

It's as the student financial struggles were highlighted this week, as the UCC Students' Union said their weekly food bank had run out of supplies in less than an hour.

"It helps but I don't think it's where it needs to be at to fully support students, if it was we wouldn't be in the situation, we wouldn't have students seeking financial help, we wouldn't have students sleeping in their cars and we wouldn't have students availing of food banks."
