Tented accommodation for Ukrainian refugees opens in Gormanston, Co. Meath today.

The Irish Refugee Council says housing Ukrainians in tents at a military barracks must be for the shortest time possible.

A new temporary centre opens in Gormanston, Co. Meath today, as the government scrambles to house the large numbers arriving here.

The country's main reception facility at CityWest reached capacity last week - resulting in Ukrainians spending a number of nights at Dublin Airport.

Up to 150 are expected to arrive at the Gormanston camp this week - it has the capacity to accommodate 350.
