Three years of weddings 'shoe horned' into this summer

Couples are attempting to 'shoe-horn' three years of weddings into this coming summer.

That's according to a wedding planner after it was revealed the number of couples getting married hasn't reached pre-pandemic levels yet.

Just over 17,200 couples tied the knot last year, which was a strong recovery on 2020, up 81 percent on the previous year.

However wedding planner Tara Fay says that is still thousands short of a 'normal' year.

"We are essentially three years of weddings into one.

"We are looking at 2020 weddings, 2021 weddings and also the general weddings that would have normally taken place in 2022.

"And also you have to factor into that the people who had ceremonies last year.

"There were 521 ceremonies that took place in January 2021, some of those people will chose to celebrate their wedding this year."
