A father of three from Co. Wexford has passed away following a motorcycle accident that occurred in July.

Stephen Malone, 33, from Campile sustained serious injuries when he fell off his motorcycle in Davidstown Co. Wexford on July 30th.

Following the incident, Stephen was rushed to University Hospital Waterford (UHW) and placed in a coma before being transferred to Cork University Hospital and The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital Dublin. Following an operation on his spine, he was transported back to UHW.

Stephen leaves behind his wife Jenny, who he only married in September 2021, along with their three children: Lorcan aged 4, Dia aged 8 and PJ aged 11.

A local hero, Stephen was well-known for his brave actions during a devastating fire at Kennedy Apartment Complex in New Ross in January 2012 when he alerted residents through the building intercom system and escorted the local fire brigade, potentially saving many lives.

A GoFundeMe page had been set up for Stephen which raised in excess of €3,300 to fund his treatment.

Tributes have since poured in for the motorcycle enthusiast, with his much-loved Viking Motorcycle Club honouring the Wexford man on social media last night.

They posted: "Vikings MC Ireland regret to announce with sadness the loss of our brother Steven 1%, who joined our brothers in the Valhalla Chapter yesterday. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his wife and family. Ride free brother and take your place in the hall of Valhalla."
