Warmest weather of the year forecast for Saturday and Sunday

Ireland's set to bask in 20 degree heat this weekend.

Met Eireann's forecasting some of the warmest weather of the year over Saturday and Sunday.

Sunday will see the best of the conditions, with the highest temperatures expected in Munster.

However, the summer heat's not expected to last, with more unsettled conditions expected early next week.

Forecaster Andrew Doran-Sherlock says temperatures will rise towards the end of this week.

"While there will still be some showers on Friday, they will be lighter and a little bit more isolated

"Then temperatures will start to pick up.

"We could see up to the high teens on Friday, particularly in the South East.

"On Saturday, there will be a bit of cloud around but still hazy spells of sunshine.

"Mild as well, so we'll see temperatures around 15 to 19 degrees.

"Still a few showers around but still quite light.

"And Sunday is looking the best day of the weekend, so good spells of sunshine, largely dry and we could see temperatures reaching up to 20 degrees, particularly in Munster."
