WATCH: Gemma O'Doherty has papers ripped up in Wexford shop

A Wexford shop has been embroiled in controversy after asking anti-mask campaigner Gemma O'Doherty to leave, before ripping up papers the protester said were legal notice.

O'Doherty entered the shop, armed with a video camera and what she called were legal papers, serving notice to Freeman's Gala supermarket in the Wexford village for 'abusing' customers who refuse to follow the shop's rules and wear a face covering.

In the video, shared on Twitter by user @JaneDoe02407913 - O'Doherty is asked if she has a mask by the cashier, before telling members of staff that what they are doing is 'illegal'.

She is directed to the store's manager, before being ushered outside, having broken another rule by videoing at the counter of the post office contained within the shop.

A member of staff then rips up her papers, before asking her to take 'her rubbish' back, and telling her that she's littering in the store, before shop customers stand outside to prevent the campainer re-entering.

The former journalist was given a two-month suspended sentence for threatening and abuse behaviour, as well as refusing to provide an address to Gardaí, after being told to take down anti-vaccine and anti-mask banners on a pedestrian bridge on the N11 Dublin-Wicklow road.

Over 145,000 people have now watched this video, with the store initially receiving negative reviews on facebook by some of O'Doherty's followers.

However, supporters of the shop have since come out in force, with a flood of positive reviews from all over the country since the video went viral yesterday evening.
