Waterford and Carlow have the highest rates of Covid-19 in Ireland

Ireland's 14-day incidence rate of Covid-19 has nearly doubled over the past month.

It has risen to 725 cases per 100,000 people - compared to 378 in early October.

Waterford's is the highest in the country, at 1,259.

That's followed by Carlow, Longford, and Kerry - they all have rates of above 1,000.

While half of the country's six worst Covid hotspots are in Co Waterford.

Waterford City South is the hardest hit area in Ireland, with 1,482 cases per 100,000 people in the space of 14 days.

That's just ahead of the Longford local electoral area.

Lismore in Waterford is the fifth-highest, followed by Waterford City East.
