Waterford Gardaí urge students to stay safe on nights out

Gardai in Waterford are urging students to be safe and streetwise when out at night.

It comes as new students are flooding the city, as the college term is well underway.

Sergeant Brendan Roche says new students in particular should be careful and to always look out for one another:

"When you're in around the town at night time, be mindful of each other.

"Be aware of your own safety and stay together as a group.

"If you go out as a group, come home as a group, so that no one is left in an isolated area or looking for a taxi in the dark and in an unknown area."
