Waterford man pleads guilty to manslaughter of musician Damien O'Brien

A Waterford city man has pleaded guilty to killing another man on a night out last July.

Damien O'Brien, from Kilmacow, Co Kilkenny, received head injuries in an incident on John Street in the early hours of 7 July.

The 27-year-old musician later died at Cork University Hospital on 13 July.

Craig McGrath, also 27, appeared in Waterford Circuit Criminal Court yesterday morning where he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Mr McGrath, who resides at 38 Poleberry in the city, was remanded on continuing bail by Judge Eugene O'Kelly.

He will appear again on 24th of May for sentencing.

The adjournment will facilitate further dealings with the probation office.
