Waterford's David Cullinane elected as Chairperson of Sinn Fein's Ireland South Cúige.

A Waterford TD has been elected chairperson of Sinn Fein's Southern Cúige.

David Cullinane has been elected as the Chairperson of the party's Ireland South Cúige.

The cúige is based on the EU constituency boundaries. comprises of ten counties in Munster and southern Leinster.

Mr Cullinane spoke to Beat News to explain what exactly the Southern Cúige is.

The Sinn Fein politician described the Southern Cúige as "the representative body of the party across all of Munster and parts of South Leinster stretching from Wicklow to Limerick".

David Culliane is now essentially Sinn Fein's representative for the southern part of the country.

Mr Cullinane told Beat News that he is extremely proud to be the party representative for this part of the country.
