This year’s Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia festival has been given a snow make-over!

Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia is the largest international festival celebrating the Irish language. It takes place from March 1st to 17th and people all over the world take part in events and through using their cúpla focal as Gaeilge.

The ambassadors for this year’s festival are Snapchat Superstar, James Patrice; TG4 Weather Presenter, Caitlín Nic Aoidh and Tipperary Hurler and All-Star Winner, Noel McGrath. The three ambassadors have different levels of fluency and are hoping to entice people from all over the country to take part in the festival.

James Patrice, Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia ambassador says:

“The festival is going to be so much fun! I’ll be using my WhatsApp as Gaeilge and doing a few snaps in Irish too. Give it a go yourself and don’t worry about making a mistake or looking like a eejit because we’re all here to enjoy Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia and to have a great time.”

This year because of Storm Emma and the Beast From the East many of the festival’s events have been postponed until later in the month. With the clever hastag #SneachtaNaGaeilge being used as #Sneachta has been trending all over the country this week.

Orlaith Nic Ghearailt, Manager of Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia says:

“We’re lucky that Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia is an extra-long seachtain! Unfortunately, some of the events have had to be postponed due to the #Sneachta, but we’re looking forward to the thousands of events which will be rescheduled before the end of our 17-day seachtain on March 17th. In the meantime, you can take part in the festival online over the next few days by posting as Gaeilge or by using your social media accounts through Irish.”
