Young adults to get a 50 per cent cut on public transport fares

Young adults can get a 50 per cent cut on public transport fares across the country from today.

19 to 23 year-olds can avail of the discount by applying for the new 'Young Adult Leap Card', which will work alongside the 'Student Leap Card.'

A 20 percent fare reduction also comes into place today for all passengers in the greater Dublin area.

Bus Eireann already brought in a 20 per cent reduction in fares for all its passengers on the 11th of April.

It says it's led to a 10 per cent growth in passenger numbers in Waterford, Cork, Limerick and Galway as a result.
