4 new players confirmed for Waterford FC

Waterford FC has  confirmed the addition of four new players to the squad ahead of the SSE Airtricity League First Division season which gets underway next month.

The club yesterday confirmed the appointments of Pat Fenlon as Director of Football and Alan Reynolds as Head Coach. Additionally, Paul Murphy, Dean O’Halloran and Dave Mulcahy were confirmed as the first signings.

Now the club has confirmed the addition of Patrick McClean, Matthew Connor, Gary Delaney and Anthony McAlavey to the squad.

A new face at the RSC is defender Patrick McClean. The 20-year-old is the younger brother of Republic of Ireland star James and joins the club from Premier Division side Derry City. Comfortable at left-back or centre half, he made 13 appearances for the Candystripes last season.

Goalkeeper Matthew Connor returns to the club after spells with Wexford Youths and Cork City. The youngster has been capped for the Republic of Ireland at Under-17 and Under-18 level.

Defender Gary Delaney also returns to the club having spent part of the 2014 season with the club. Gary spent the last couple of seasons with his native Wexford Youths.

Midfielder Anthony McAlavey returns for his third season at the club having joined from Rockmount ahead of the 2015 season. More players will be confirmed in the coming days.
