Jamie Allen, who plays internationally for Montserrat, has decided to vacate his footballing duties and join the cast for the final days of the latest installment.
The player who recently signed a contract extension with his club was announced as one of four new "bombshells" to join the show.
It remains to be seen what action will be taken on his return, as his club have announced a review of the entire matter.
"Jamie Allen has decided to join the cast of Love Island 2022, making his intentions clear that the opportunity is very important to him," the Yorkshire club said in a statement on Twitter.
"The matter will be reviewed on his return."
