Michael Masi removed as F1's race director following controversial Abu Dhabi GP

Michael Masi has been removed from his role as F1's race director after his part in last season's controversial Abu Dhabi Grand Prix finale.

The under-fire Australian was accused of bending safety car rules to deny Lewis Hamilton a record eighth world championship by allowing Max Verstappen an opportunity to overtake the Brit on the final lap.

There'll be a restructure of race control for the new campaign with a VAR review system being introduced.

Meanwhile, season four of F1: Drive to Survive will be available on the streaming platform from March 11th, just before the 2022 season opener in Bahrain.
