Waterford GAA have confirmed this morning that Shane Fives has retired from Intercounty hurling.

Fives calls to a close a 13-year stint with the DΓ©ise intercounty squad, which saw him capture the Munster title in 2010, as well as being part of the 2015 side that won the National Hurling League.

The Tourin corner-back has had a varied career, playing a period of club hurling with East Cork side Carrigtwohill, and winning a Railway Cup title with Munster.
