Almost seven in ten 15 to 24-year-olds listen to live radio every day.

That's according to the new JNLR Radio and Irish Audio report which also found that 17 million people tune in to radio for more than 13 hours each weekday.

The report shows the ownership of audio devices such as Alexa and Google Home has also trebled in the past three years.

The JNLR found that most listening to audio material occurs at home with three in every four people listening to audio at home yesterday.

On the road, one-third of people listened to audio in a car or a van while almost one in ten listen in work or school/college (9%) and when out walking or cycling (8%).

JNLR Committee member, Gavin Deans says figures will increase year on year:

"Radio is still one of the major - if not the major - source of audio content that people are listening to."

"And that's not to take away from other audio - it's a combination of everything and it's to show the difference of how people are consuming."

"Audio is in a really strong position and radio is the cornerstone of the audio market and that's something we will see in the next couple of years."
