Minister of State John Halligan, is expected to confirm later this week, that he's not standing in the general election.
The Independent TD for Waterford, is making the decision for personal reasons.
He has been involved in politics for five decades.
Transport Minister Shane Ross indicated earlier today, he felt Minister Halligan would retire.
