Beat's South East Sports Star Awards taking place in Kilkenny tonight

South East success in sport is being celebrated this evening in Co. Kilkenny.

Throughout 2018, 13 athletes and clubs were nominated as monthly winners of The Beat South East Sports Awards.

This evening, the overall winner for 2018 will be chosen.

The monthly winners and nominees for the overall award are:

  • January: Presentation Convent, Clonmel - All Ireland Spikeball Champions
  • February joint winners: Waterford rally driver Craig Breen and Kilkenny’s Marble City Hawks Basketball
  • March: Wexford Wanderers RFC - Leinster League Division 2B winners
  • April: Tramore AFC U18’s - FAI Youth Cup Champions
  • May: Kilkenny pentathlete Arthur Lanigan O’Keefe - World Cup Gold medalist
  • June: World karate champion David Gahan from Waterford.
  • July: Irish Superbike Champion Richie Ryan from Kilkenny
  • August: European bronze medalist Thomas Barr from Waterford.
  • September: Waterford athlete Kate Veale.
  • October: Wexford Youths Women - treble winners.
  • November: Old Leighlin Ladies Footballers - Leinster Junior Champions
  • Wildcard: Carlow Senior Hurlers - Joe McDonagh Cup and National League Division 2A winners.
