GAA President satisfied with training breach sanctions handed to Dublin

By Joleen Murphy

The GAA's President Larry McCarthy says he's satisfied with sanctions handed down to Dublin for their training breach.

The All-Ireland champion's manager Dessie Farrell is to serve a 12-week suspension and they've also lost home advantage for one of their upcoming league games.

Farrell will sit out the league campaign before returning to manage his side in the Leinster Championship.

President of the GAA says high-profile breaches of their training ban have caused reputational damage to the association.

Monaghan are also being investigated after footage emerged of their footballers training last week.

Seamus McEnaney was handed a 12-week ban by the Monaghan County board for his role in a session which took place last month.

McCarthy has been asked if the punishments are enough of a deterrent.

"Management are investigating the Monaghan one and will apply a sanction, I would assume, perhaps after an investigation", he said.

"They have applied a sanction in the Dublin case.

"We are happy with the sanction we have applied.

"I don't know in terms of 'is it enough?', well management thought it was enough in this case."

The new comes as this year's All Ireland finals fixtures have been announced and will be played in August.

The GAA has revealed its fixture list for the year, with the Allianz Hurling League first to resume on May 8th and 9th.

The Football Championship will again be played on a knockout basis.
