A prayer assembly at St Leo's College in Carlow has raised concerns over safety guidelines

A prayer assembly at one of the first schools to open its doors since March has caused controversy over safety guidelines.

152 first year pupils gathered 1 metre apart in the assembly hall at St Leo's College in Carlow yesterday morning.

The ASTI says the congregation was unwise and ill advised, however the Department of Education has raised no objection to it.

It comes ahead of the reopening of schools across the country this week and next.
