Charity run to take place at Waterford Airport this morning in honour of Captain Dara Fitzpatrick

Around one thousand people are taking part in a charity run along the runway at Waterford airport this morning - in memory of Captain Dara Fitzpatrick.

The Rescue 116 pilot operated out of Waterford Airport for a decade- the facility that will host the 5k run this morning.

The Dara Fitzpatrick Memorial Run is in aid of the 'Touching Hearts' children's charity and South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association.

Dara's sister Niamh Fitzpatrick will take part in the run as well as Olympic medallist Sonia O'Sullivan.

The run begins at 10 am at Waterford Airport on Saturday 16th September 2017.
