We're looking back on 2016 and the stories you were clicking on our website and social media.

January brought us the story and video of the struggles drivers were having at Rosslare Europort. Michael Fortune filmed this clip over a three-hour period in 2007 as part of an art project but the clip went viral in January after the New York Post has picked it up with the headline “Did a drunken Irishman design this road?”

We also heard in January about the bomb tested in North Korea that was so strong that it was felt in Wexford. A station in Wexford picked up an unusual event at 1.41am on the morning of January 6th, at the same time as the reported test in eastern Asia.

We love to help people out on Beat Breakfast when we can and in January, we heard the heartwarming story from Sinead who got in touch with us hoping to find two kind strangers who helped her mother after a fall in Waterford City. Making a Murderer was gripping everyone on Netflix in January and we all became armchair detectives!

It wasn't all good news in January as many people mourned the unexpected death of much-loved actor Alan Rickman. He died aged 69 after a battle with cancer.

We also featured the rather scary story from Kildare where a woman was hospitalised after being attacked by a fox in her back garden. Josie Hillis needed twenty surgical stitches to her face, arm and hand following the terrifying incident at her home near Brannockstown.

Carpool Karaoke was hitting its peak and one of the most popular editions of the year was when Adele took to the streets with James Corden.

There was also huge excitement in January when the cast of High School Musical got back together to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the original movie.

We had the floods across the South East in late December/early January and poor Joan Burton had that awful incident where she feel out of a boat in Thomastown in Kilkenny. Which, of course, brought us a deluge of brilliant memes.....

Beat 102-103 held its annual Sports Star Awards at the end of January at Mount Wolseley in Tullow in Carlow. We celebrated the sporting success of people from all over the South East in different sports, but there could only be one overall winner....
