Consultation votes overwhelmingly to stop clocks going back in Winter

Clocks going backwards and forwards for Wintertime and Summertime could come to an end in 2021 under new proposals.

Irish people have taken part in a European public consultation that voted overwhelmingly to stop the clock changes.

The European Parliament must now approve the recommendation made by the Transport and Tourism committee.

Ireland South MEP Deirdre Clune says we'll now face a choice between winter and summer time following extensive meetings and consultation.

"To have longer brighter evenings in the Winter is preferable as it leads to better mental health and wellbeing", said MEP Clune.
