Gardaí & emergency services at the scene of road traffic collision in Carlow

Five people have been taken to hospital following a serious car crash in Co Carlow.

It happened near Ballinabranagh just before midday.

One car was involved in the collision at Clogrennane at around 11:50am this morning.

Five people were in the vehicle - a man in his 20s and four teenage girls.

They've been taken to the Midland Regional Hospital and St Luke's in Kilkenny.

Two are in a serious condition.

Gardai and emergency services are at the scene, where a technical examination is being carried out.

The Ballinabranagh Road remains closed and diversions are in place.

Any witnesses who were on that stretch between 20 to 12 and quarter past 12 today are being asked to come forward.
