CARDIAC SERVICES MARCH WATERFORD UHW 24/7

A protest calling for the provision of 24/7 cardiac care at University Hospital Waterford takes place in Dublin tomorrow.

Campaigners will travel from the South East to the capital and it will kick off from Dublin's Garden of Remembrance at 2pm.

Travel from Waterford has been arranged from the Glen in Waterford City at 10am.

The demonstration, which has been organised by the Waterford Council of Trade Unions, is to highlight what they call the 'sub-standard practice' of transferring cardiac patients by ambulance to Cork.

Figures revealed by the organisation have showed that 98 percent of patients sent to other hospitals in an ambulance out-of-hours are 'not treated within the limit of 90 minutes'.
