South-East county tops 7-day incidence rate list

The Department of Health has reported 1,940 new covid cases today.

It's a small decrease on yesterday's figure.

There's 352 Covid patients in hospital, with 74 in ICU.

It was also announced today that 92 percent of adults in Ireland are fully vaccinated against Covid 19.

Despite having the highest vaccination rate in the country, Waterford tops the 14 day epidemiological lists published by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre.

It's 7-day incidence rate is the highest in the country, standing at 351.2 per 100,000 - while Carlow is third, with 332 people per 100,000 on average testing positive.

Wexford, Kilkenny and Tipperary are all in the bottom five of counties as per their 7-day incidence rate.
