South-East leads the country in vaccine take-up

The South-East leads the way when it comes to takeup of the vaccine nationwide.

Waterford, Carlow, Wexford, and Tipperary are the four leading counties for adults who have received a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

An incredible 99.7% over 18s in the Déise have received at least one dose of the vaccine as of the 15th September - according to the latest figures from the HSE.

98.8% of people in Carlow, 97.7% of those in Wexford, with 97.3% in Tipperary means all four of those counties rank the highest across the nation.

It's a huge win for the vaccination programme in the South-East, which has taken place in centres, GP practices, and pharmacies in all five counties.

However, Kilkenny is some way behind the others, ranking 19th out of the 26 counties in the Republic.

It's 90.8% rate is still above Dublin at 88.8%, and neighbouring Laois at 87.1%.

Monaghan has the least amount of people per population vaccinated, at just 83.9%, while Donegal, is only marginally ahead, at 83.9%.
