This A-list Supermodel owes her name to an IRISH airline!

Names come from all kinds of places; names of favourite singers, actors, football players...

...or in the Beckham's case where you conceived! *shudders*

But one A-list supermodel's name comes from the most unlikely of Irish sources!

Cara Delevingne's first name is an unusual one admittedly, but its source is even more bizarre!

Cara's Dad Charles was speaking at an event marking the centenary of the Anglo-Irish treaty, with families of the men who signed the document on both sides coming together to share their experiences.

His grandfather, Sir Hamar Greenwood, was the last Chief Secretary for Ireland between 1920 and 1922, and was associated with the aggressive use of the Royal Irish Constabulary and British auxiliary forces during the War of Independence.

Charles said that his family's connection with the country, and more specifically its airline, is what gave his famous daughter her unique first name.

"I'm sick to death of everyone telling me I'm Cara's father!" he joked to the Irish Times this week.

"I remember I used to go backwards and forwards to Dublin a lot, and the name of the Aer Lingus magazine was Cara. I loved the name.

"I'm here to celebrate 100 years of Anglo-Irish friendship. Long may it continue."

So there you go, one of the world's most famous models gets her name from an airline's magazine. Who'd have thought it!
