Two South East Credit Unions to merge following outcry and controversy over the plans

Two credit unions in the South East have gotten the go-ahead to merge.

Bagenalstown Credit Union in County Carlow looks set to join forces with St Canice's in Kilkenny.

There was outcry at the possible merger with two public meetings held and the first AGM cancelled due to overcrowding.

An online campaign was started in a bid to get members to say no to the merger.

However - the meeting went ahead last night with 3 quarters of the some 500 plus voters who turned out, giving it their approval.
