Are you better at Call of Duty than cramming for exams?How would you like to become a professional gamer?

The first-ever Irish esports Academy has opened in Cork city, and they are looking to hear from young people interested in making a career out of gaming.

Wylde is an esports organisation co-owned by Olympic Gold medallist Usain Bolt and founded by Irish tech entrepreneurs David Cronin and Steve Daly. The Wylde Academy was established in 2023 "to inspire and nurture gaming talent." The Academy provides coaching, boot camps, community tournaments, and ultimately pathways to global contests and taking gaming talent to the world stage.

Speaking to Joe.ie, Wylde Co-founder David Cronin said that Ireland now has "an opportunity to create significant employment in the area of gaming and esports for future generations."
