Stephen O'Keeffe invited back to Waterford panel by Davy Fitzgerald

Waterford manager Davy Fitzgerald has offered Ballygunner goalkeeper Stephen O'Keeffe a spot on the Waterford hurling panel and is awaiting his decision.

Fitzgerald's side were 3-point winners in their Munster Hurling League fixture against Tipperary, winning by a scoreline of 0-21 to 1-15.

As reported by RTÉ, the Clare legend was vocal in his admiration of the player in his post-match conversations.

"Yeah, I talked to Stephen a while back," he said.

"We’ve asked him to rejoin the panel. Whether he does or not, we’ll know in the next few weeks.

"If he does, we’d love to have him, it’d be great and if he doesn’t, we’ve two good lads there as well.

"Obviously, you’re going to ask the best players in Waterford to play."

When pressed into whether O’Keeffe was considering the offer, Fitzgerald replied: "He talked to us anyway, so he did."
