Water breaks return this weekend as temperatures soar

As a result of the rising temperatures, and on an exceptional basis, the CCC have opted for water breaks at club fixtures this weekend.

Originally introduced as a safety measure during the COVID fixture period, players will be granted approximately one minute for rehydration, or at about the 15th minute of each half.

Temperatures are set to reach 30 degrees Celcius during play and several county boards have announced the welcome news.

"Due to the current heatwave and on an exceptional basis. The CCC has decided that for all games being played this weekend, there will be a water break (approx 1 minute) or at about the 15th minute of each half of a game," a statement from Tipperary GAA read.

This follows Kilkenny GAA who yesterday made the same announcement.
