Waterford's Thomas Barr exits European Championships at semi-final stage

Thomas Barr is out of the European Championships after a third-place finish in his semi-final run.

Barr, previously a bronze medalist, had to work for his win in his opening heat and this followed on to today's event.

The Waterford man came home in a time of 49.30 and failed to qualify in a fastest losing qualifier position.

The Ferrybank AC man was speaking with Will Downing for Beat afterwards and was coy about his future: "I was kind of waiting possibly another couple of races, depending on how this chance went.

"I'd imagine now that'll probably be the end of it.

"To be honest, right now, it's hard to say. Right now, I don't feel like racing again.

"At the same time, in another couple of days, I might say no, I want to put peace to this season. I'll wait and see."

Tomorrow's final will take place at 9pm Irish time, where Barr previously achieved his success in 2018.
