10 Years of The Saturday Selection with Darren Rice!

Darren Rice has been a permanent fixture on the Irish dance music scene ever since he won a national competition aged 17 to play at the Creamfields festival. Since then, he's toured the length and breadth of the country gigging and played alongside some of the world's biggest djs. Darren's passion for house and techno music saw him set up his own music label, Heavy Reel, with fellow enthusiast Djamel. Heavy Reel releases topped the dance music charts and receive worldwide acclaim from Dave Clarke among others.

Nowhere is Darren's passion for the genre more evident than in his weekly two hour radio broadcast on Beat 102 103. Whether it's shooting the breeze with one of the world's biggest djs, or promoting homegrown Irish dance talent through the guest mixes, or just raving about a new release, Darren's enthusiasm and talent shines through.

Beat Boss Gabrielle Cummins has extended her congratulations to Darren on the 10th anniversary of this show “for the last decade, Darren has consistently produced a top quality niche programme.  Year in, year out, Darren’s show is shortlisted for a national radio award where he competes alongside the best in the Industry. In October 2016,  Darren secured a bronze for Saturday Selection.  This was Darren’s fourth time having a top three finish out of SEVEN nominations.  This gives you an indication of the steady high quality that comes from Darren every week.  We are delighted to have the calibre of Darren on our weekend lineup and look forward to hearing more interesting interviews and  top quality sounds in the future.”
