Autism-friendly family day announced for Tayto Park

Autism-friendly family day announced for Tayto Park

A special Autism Awareness Day will take place this weekend in Tayto Park.

On Sunday, May 12, the theme park and zoo will create an autism-friendly environment to allow parents of children with autism and their families enjoy all the facilities and attractions.

Small changes at Tayto Park will include:

  • no music being played throughout the park;
  • no hand dryers will be turned on for the duration of the day;
  • queues for the attractions will be kept to a minimum during this time.

In preparation for this special day, Tayto Park has created 'social stories' which will detail all attractions open on the day and help children with autism break down each social situation into steps that can be fully understood.

Tayto Park has also announced limited edition family tickets for Tayto Park FunFest. Taking place on June 29 and 30, family tickets cost between €90 and €270.

The weekend festival will host 16 Irish and international music acts on the main stage across the weekend, including Hudson Taylor and Nathan Carter.

The big top tents will host magicians, dance acts, circus performers and much more. Tayto Park will only be open to Funfest ticket holders over that weekend.
