Brother and Sister killed in Wexford crash yesterday

The victims of yesterdays road traffic collision in Wexford have been named.

The man in his early fifties and sister in her late forties have been named locally as Sylvester Dempsey and Ann Dempsey, from Clongeen, Wellingtonbridge, Co Wexford.

The incident happened at around 1:30pm yesterday afternoon.

Sylvester and Ann were travelling in their Renault Clio car from Wexford town when the accident occurred on a straight stretch of road between Barntown School and Larkins Cross.

It’s believed that the 4 x 4 coming from the New Ross direction veered to the opposite side of the road leading to a head-on collision. The two men in the 4 x 4 were said to be not seriously injured.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 1.30pm with two sections of Wexford Fire Service also attending.

The injured were removed to Wexford General Hospital where they were pronounced dead, while the two men were treated for their injuries.

Gardaí are still appealing for witnesses to come forward.
